For unique tabletop interest on the patio, you can plant in wicker baskets.

To hold in soilless potting mix and moisture, use rug grip — the sticky mats that hold rugs in place — as a lining first. It still allows water to drain and one sheet, cut to size, is reusable year after year.

Choose from a range of colors to coordinate with your flowers or basket, you could also try shelf liner, at left — the material works the same way.
